The Internet we see today harbours countless threats to us, our children and the computers we use within the home. We all may habitually visit a few sites on a regular basis, but a mis-typed website address or a link clicked within an unsolicited email may expose your children to offensive or harmful content on the web.
"Over half of children who have been online have seen pornographic content"
London School of Economics Report
The Internet is a fantastic resource for children and adults alike but all internet access requires control - which is different to censorship. Brightfilter's solutions enable appropriate protection levels both from inappropriate content and security attacks whatever the age of the surfer.
How it worksThe Brightfilter software, once installed on the computer, provides custom levels of web-access to the user within which the user can safely use the Internet.
When a user types in a website address (URL) or clicks on a link within a webpage, the destination address is sent to our service in the Internet cloud. Our service then identifies this address and responds with the webpage categorisation - all of this takes milliseconds...
For example, a child types www.hotmail.com into Internet Explorer. This address is sent to our service which responds with a categorisation of Web Mail This categorisation is then checked against the users profile and the user is either allowed or disallowed from entering the site.
